Poll :
Should we have speed bumps on Horton Road?

  Yes they are needed
I think other traffic calming measures should be used
  Install speed cameras
Do nothing, it's not worth it.

Horton Road, from the shops to the Garden Centre can be like a drag strip.  Cars race at high speeds.  This road comes into the area by the shops and community Centre and playground very quickly.
I hate Speed Bumps but I can't see an alternative.  It was suggested to me by a Moor resident that SPeed Humps are need very soon.
What do you reckon?

a couple of years ago when residents asked for speed restrictions to be imposed it was suggested a roundabout be installed at the junction of Hithermoor Road/Horton Rd to reduce vehicle speed. Obviously no one had actually visited the site or they would have been aware that at that junction there was also  entrance to the village hall ( that still ran daily pre-school classes )plus the site of village re-cycling bins.If the proposed roundabout had been installed we were in no doubt our own community would have encountered increased danger.
Stratigicaaly placed speed humps would have been ideal to deter some motorists diverting through the village at speed, but in the end all we were allowed were new signs indicating the 30mph limit. Again the Moor is short-changed compared to other parts of the borough.

A Mini Roundabout?????

One hump.  Unfortunately they (mini roundabouts) seem to slow the already wary but pose little if any deterant to the speed merchants.

I am increasingly of the opinion, reluctantly that Speed humps are the only way.  I know we avoid roads with speed humps where possible.  Which is another bonus!
